Mauricio " Tinguinha" Mariano has been dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for more than 20 years. He has been teaching the gentle art for more than 12 years and is known worldwide for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills. He is the Head Instructor of The Tinguinha BJJ Academy and dedicates himself to the growth of the art and to passing his knowledge on. He is well known for being an excellent instructor, very patient, technical and for knowing how to get the best out of each student.

He started training with Mauricio “Tinguinha” Mariano 8 years ago and was Tinguinha’s first student in Orange County, he competed in several BJJ tournaments and dedicated his time to the values of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, studying every aspect of this martial art. Besides having his own successful business, Mike is an instructor and competition team coach at Tinguinha BJJ Academy where he shares his vast knowledge and experience in Brazilian JiuJItsu.

Kenric Toliver has been a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner for over 10 years. His love for martial arts started at a very young age.In high school, he became involved in wrestling from his sophomore to senior year.And discovered the Brazilian Jiu Jitsumartial art while overseas in the Navy. I've been hooked ever since." While in Japan, Kenric was able to achieve his Brown Belt in Judo. Kenric's future plans, in BJJ, are to share his knowledge with fellow students/practitioners and to keep learning.

Russell started his long road into martial arts training at age 7 when he started training Karate, which he trained for 4 years, he continued through different modalities including Doce Pares,Jeet Kune Do, Shooto and Muay Thai,for several years until progressing to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which he started dedicating himself to in 2002. He has been fully commited to training BJJ ever since. Competing at The Pan American Championship as well as in the US Nationals BJJ Championship, South Bay BJJ Championship and many other in the White, Blue, Purple and Brown Belts. Russell brings his increadible athletisism, sharp technique and easygoing way to the Tinguinha Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Programs and Team.

He has competed in several tournaments since 2006 and looks forward to contribute even more in our TBJJ Core and Mastering the Fundaments classes. Sam also shares his love for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial art writing on BJJ Blogs as well as other online BJJ media and looks foward to continue contributing to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Tinguinha BJJ Academy on and outside of the mats.

TBJJ Core Program Morning Assistant Instructor Arvie Gimeno has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Tinguinha BJJ Academy since 2007, being an active TBJJ Member on and off the mats.Not only as an assisting instructor in our TBJJ Core morning classes but designing some of our TBJJ Apparel as well. Arvie has as one of his goals to become a full time Professor.He brings a sense of calm as part of his personality to our classes, being detail oriented he is eager to help our Beginners practitioners evolve and progress in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Coach Kareem is the youngest member of our TBJJ Team of Staff. Having started his martial arts experience early, he started with Kempo Karate and Taekwondo at the age of 7 and later on started training wrestling. He has been training at the Tinguinha BJJ Academy for over two years and is a very talented BJJ practitioner. He is not only a dedicated student but a coach at our Spiders (Kids/Youth) Program. Coach Kareem was our 2009 TBJJ Student of the Year. He is very mature for his age and very focused and brings those qualities to our TBJJ Spiders classes and to our TBJJ Team as well.

Besides being a TBJJ Academy Purple Belt and member John have been contributing to the growth of the Tinguinha BJJ Academy by teaching our Kickboxing program.
